LOCATION: EUROPEAN WATERWAYS | CONTRACT: FREELANCE

At Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, we’re not just another cruise line—we’re storytellers, curators of culture, and passionate hosts. As part of The Travel Corporation (TTC), a company with over 100 years of travel expertise, we blend tradition with innovation to redefine the luxury river cruise experience.

We operate a fleet of elegant, intimate ships that sail the most scenic rivers of Europe—from the Danube and Rhine to the Seine and Douro—each one uniquely designed to reflect the culture, architecture, and artistry of its destination. No two ships are alike, and that’s exactly how we treat our guests: as individuals with unique tastes, dreams, and expectations.

What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to excellence:

  • Personalized service that feels more like hospitality from a trusted friend than formal protocol
  • Truly all-inclusive experiences that remove stress and elevate the joy of travel
  • Authentic, immersive excursions that connect guests with the heart of each destination
  • Sustainability at our core, from reducing plastic use to supporting local economies and cultures

We believe that travel has the power to transform—and we take pride in delivering journeys that are as enriching as they are luxurious. Our guests come to us for a five-star experience, but they return for the people, the stories, and the magic that only Uniworld can provide.
At the heart of all we do is hospitality. We’re looking for people who share that same passion: individuals who thrive in dynamic environments, take pride in high standards, and genuinely love making others feel welcome, understood, and cared for.

The Role: Cruise Manager
As Cruise Manager, you are the face of Uniworld onboard and onshore. You will lead the seamless delivery of our full guest program—from welcome to farewell—working closely with the Captain, Hotel Manager, and local partners to ensure an extraordinary journey.

You Are:

The Ultimate Host
Your presence sets the tone onboard. With a natural warmth, polished professionalism, and a passion for hospitality, you create a welcoming atmosphere that instantly puts guests at ease. You understand that it’s the little things—remembering names, anticipating preferences, offering thoughtful surprises—that turn a great trip into an unforgettable one. You embody the spirit of genuine service, always striving to exceed expectations and create moments that matter.

A Skilled Communicator
You know that great communication is the foundation of exceptional service. You listen actively to understand—not just respond—and you communicate with clarity, tact, and confidence. Whether managing a complex situation or delivering a morning briefing, you adapt your tone and message to suit your audience. You foster trust and connection with guests, colleagues, and partners alike, and your calm, empathetic approach makes you a reliable leader even in high-pressure situations.

A Problem-Solver
Unexpected changes, last-minute requests, and logistical puzzles don’t faze you—they energize you. You think on your feet, assess situations quickly, and apply creative thinking to resolve challenges efficiently and discreetly. You view obstacles as opportunities to deliver service recovery that deepens guest satisfaction and loyalty. Your resilience and resourcefulness are a key reason our guests feel well looked after, no matter what the day brings.

A Destination Expert
You're more than a guide—you’re a storyteller, cultural ambassador, and local insider. Your deep understanding of the itinerary, history, and hidden gems of each destination allows you to bring it vividly to life. You enrich the guest experience by sharing personal insights, historical context, and practical tips that help travellers connect with each location in meaningful ways. Your enthusiasm is contagious, inspiring guests to explore with curiosity and confidence.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven background in the travel or cruise industry
  • Deep knowledge of European destinations (cities, rivers, cultures)
  • Natural team player who is proactive, organized, and resourceful
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong onboard and partner relationships
  • Passion for hospitality and high-end guest service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, presentation tools, and social media
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; additional European language(s) a plus (e.g., German, French, Italian)

As part of the recruitment process for this role, all applicants must be available to attend an assessment day in either of our locations in August below:

  • 15th August in Rheinfelden, Switzerland
  • 21st August in London, United Kingdom

We kindly ask you to specify which location would be your preferred assessment day when applying.
