Your Responsibilities
  • Provide professional, friendly, and efficient service across all guest-facing areas.
  • Lead ship briefings, socialize with guests, and always represent Umbworlds service culture.
  • Supervise and coordinate work across all hotel functions, from the galley to the front desk, ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Organize, train, supervise, and lead your team, empowering them to perform independently and confidently in their roles.
  • Collaborate closely with the Captain and Cruise Manager to ensure smooth onboard operations.
  • Implement and promote the “Up serve” approach to enhance guest experiences while supporting onboard profit targets.
  • Support and enforce adherence to Uniworld standards and HACCP cleanliness and hygiene procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, hygiene, and legal regulations.

Specific Requirements
  • Proven food and beverage expertise gained in luxury four- or five-star hotels and/or onboard river/ocean vessels.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
  • Manage budgets, analyse financial reports, and monitor sales and profits to achieve targets.
  • Hold regular monthly talks and daily briefings to set goals, monitor progress, and foster team alignment.
  • Plan holiday rotations and on/off-duty schedules, ensuring compliance with working-hour regulations as per law and GRC.
  • Inspect facilities regularly, addressing maintenance needs, equipment shortages, or renovation requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant systems (e.g., Mariner X’Change, company recipe database).
  • Actively participate in assigned learning activities, training sessions, and mandatory safety or emergency drills.
  • Contribute to ship preparation during end-of-season close-down and start-of-season set-up.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
